Honey, I lived life this weekend! Sydney was actually supposed to take a trip to LA with Shonta for Spring break. But Corona cancelled that. Actually, Sydney and I originally planned to be on our bi-annual mommy/daughter trip this week. This year, we were supposed to visit Rome and Florence. Well, breast cancer postponed (notice I didn’t say “cancelled“) that. And in hindsight, Corona probably would have affected that anyway .. since the entire country of 60 million people are on lock down. So instead of sitting home, Theo and I brought Sydney and Shonta along with us to New Orleans. The more the merrier, right?!? Other than the ridiculous traffic that we ran into driving here, the trip was nothing short of amazing (Just like always). New Orleans is one of my favorite quick weekend trip locations. I like to go when there aren’t huge festivals, meaning smaller crowds. It’s fun to just hang out with a hurricane and people watch. And this weekend, New Orleans was the change of scenery that I needed before medical appointments reconvene next week. I got a chance get fancy for a few date nights with the hubs. It was great to ”just be” without discussion of breast cancer, appointments, tests, or visits.

I also had some “cousin time” with my boo.

I got to eat at some of my favs and try a few new spots too. Restaurant R’evolution was nothing short of amazing and GW Fins is well .. GW Fins (a classic 👌🏽)

And although Sydney has been to New Orleans a few times, she got to see it with 10 year old eyes, and had a blast too. Maybe the fact that she had a cool room mate had something to do with it. (Thanks Shonta😘)

So now its time to head back to H-town. It was great to be away for a few days. I’m glad that I decided to take this trip between chemo regimens. It’s important to reward yourself for small bouts of progress.

Remember to continue to live as you are moving forward with your goals. Celebrate every small personal victory. For no one but you understands what it took to get there. So reward yourself for all of your hard work. You deserve every single tiny victory!
