What's your why?

What's your why?

Hey guys! I know I’ve been quiet over the last few days. But I’m still here, hanging in there. I have been thinking about something over the last week, and I may be onto something.

When I was in church on Sunday, the Pastor noted that at least once in their lives, everyone will ask themselves “Who am I” and “Why am I here?” This really hit home for me, because I spent all of 2018 praying for revelation. I wasn’t praying for Him to reveal my gifts because I felt that he had shown these to me. Instead, I was seeking purpose. How does He intend for me to use my gifts to glorify Him? I’m pretty good at curating experiences. And although there is satisfaction in party planning and creating travel experiences, I struggled to see this as my purpose. How is this helping anyone else? There was interest but not a lot of passion.

Fast forward 1 year, and my gifts are the same .. but my passion has been revealed. I guess there’s nothing like a good personal journey to get the juices going, huh. I’m still at the beginning of my journey, so forgive me for not having it all lined out. However, what I envision is an organization that supports young women diagnosed with breast cancer through acts of kindness. At this stage, I am humbled daily by the generosity of my village. I appreciate all that has been done .. every prayer, card, email, meal, gift, smile. And I need to return this love and energy back to the universe in a structured way.

A few months ago, I participated in an awesome course focused on finding my “Indelible Mark”. As a function of you, something exists in the world that makes a profound impact, and will not disappear or be easily forgotten. This is your Indelible Mark. At the end of the two day session, I had penned my mark. I am a bold champion for those that go unnoticed and unheard. I ensure that everyone has the opportunity to succeed. While my original focus was on inclusion and diversity, I think that it can also be applied to my quest to help young women with breast cancer. Check it out ..

I am a bold champion for those that go unnoticed and unheard (young women diagnosed with breast cancer who may not have a strong support network). I ensure that everyone has the opportunity to succeed (by creating an environment where these women can feel supported). Guess I penned a good indelible mark after all. 😉

The first step to achieving a goal is to write it down. So there you have it. It’s written for my entire village to see!! I’m so excited to see where this goes.. Will keep you posted along the way, of course!

If you are struggling with finding “your why”, ask yourself these questions:

  1. What inspires you? What makes you feel alive and gets you going?

  2. Where can you add value? What kind of problems do you enjoy solving?

  3. How will you measure your life? What are willing to make a stand for?

Here’s to living a purpose driven life ❤️

The meaning of life is to find your gift; the purpose of life is to give it away.
